The rolling hills, woodland forests, lakeside trails and beaches in Northumberland County all make stunning backdrops for your portrait photographs. When working with families with young children I especially like to choose locations with a nearby play structure for the kids to play on (kids need a break from posing to continue to be engaged and happy during their session) or a lovely hiking trail where the family can explore after photos are finished. There are also so many historic buildings and architectural elements, often within walking distance from one another, that you can have an endless variety of interesting locations to choose for your family, childrens, engagement or other portrait photography sessions.

Beaches of Port Hope and Cobourg

The Lake Ontario shoreline offers both white sandy beaches and smooth rock beaches at both Cobourg and Port Hope. There are several pebble and sand beaches to choose from and the possibilities for fantastic photographs are endless.

Ganaraska Forest

There are many forest trails managed by the Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority. Beware of the native poison ivy that lies alongside many of the walking trails.

Municipal Parks

There are so many parks in and around the Port Hope and Cobourg region. Some of my favorite ones to photograph in are the Town Agricultural Park, Memorial Park, Optimist Park, Rotary Waterfront Park, the Cobourg Ecology Garden and the Cobourg Conservation Area.

The historic architecture of downtown Port Hope and Cobourg offers many unique backgrounds for both portraits and environmental headshot and branding photography. From worn wood, brick and stucco to ivy walls, wrought iron fences and interesting alleyways there is something for everyone as we explore these pretty towns.
